The T2050 Form

The T2050 is the official form that is required to be completed to register a charity under the Income Tax Act.  When applying for charitable status you will be required to download and complete this form from CRA's website. We would recommend that you only use the forms available from CRA's website to ensure you are using the correct one.

Annotated T2050 Forms

To assist in the completion of the T2050 form, we have created an annotated version of the form to help further explain what CRA are looking for within the application form. To simplify things we have broken the application form into its seven parts allowing you to work through each part at a time.

While you are able to fill in each of the forms below, you might want to consider the following warnings and tips :

• That this form is accurate as of January 2010,to obtain the most recent and correct form to complete go to the CRA website. 
• While you are able to input information into these forms you will not be able to save it on your computer. You can however, print these forms out with your completed information and use them as a guide to complete your application once you are ready.

Using the Annotated Forms

Within the annotated forms each question is clarified with helpful information contained in a question mark icon standing nearby (mostly on the right) of the question. To read the information contained in the question mark icon, you can hover your mouse over the question mark. If you wish to display more permanently the directives contained in the question mark (which we recommend), we suggest that you click on it. This will allow you to read the directives as you fill in the form. After you have clicked on the question mark, the information will appear in a small window that you should re-size.
